Private Skype Lessons
In order to register for a private one hour SKYPE lesson, please note the following:
It is important for audio and video to be of good quality at both ends of the call. The following prerequisites should be accounted for before any Skype session.
- A Skype account. If you do not yet have one, go here to sign up. It is free to register an account with Skype.
- The latest version of Skype. You may need to reset your firewall (in Windows XP) after doing this. Refer to ‘tech support’ at the Skype website if necessary.
- Hi-speed internet, at least 512kb/s.
- A decent webcam, preferably one that is Skype certified. There are many affordable ones to choose from. A built-in computer webcam usually is not good enough. Plug the USB cable directly into the computer, not a USB hub.
- A decent microphone, which can be USB, or one that is connected to an external sound card.
- Some good quality headphones, or external speaker system.
- Make sure all other applications and current downloads are not running during the call.
- Do a diagnostic test on Skype, using “Call Quality Guide” in the Help section.
